Why is it that there are some people who just piss the hell out of you?

It's just horrible that I actually work with someone like that. It's early morning and you just switched on my bitch mode.

My Love Affair with Korea

  • Dec. 24th, 2009 at 7:21 PM
childhood
Thanks to Lovers in Paris (original version please) and the numerous k-dramas that I've watched since college plus the long list of Hallyu actors and K-Pop singers, i have officially forged a one-sided love affair with Korea. Not just because i wanted to pursue my fan girl fantasies (thank you very much), but because I believe that Korea has one of the most beautiful natural landscapes in the world - okay maybe Asia. Of course, I also promised myself that I would be spending my birthday in another country (I celebrated my birthday on a flight back home to Manila last year, boo), so what better place to celebrate it in but in Korea..with my beloved soju - yay! i guess it wasn't just me celebrating the week of my birthday, but apparently the whole of Korea is. Ahh Chuseok (Thanksgiving Day) - as much as it was fun being part of a Korean holiday - this also hindered us from going to other places that I have listed down, rawr. I guess this means I have more reasons to go back and perhaps meet an oppa or just make more chinggus

Kansahamnida korea ^^ )

royal duties
i discovered 500 days of summer.
can't wait to see this. can't wait to get the OST.

oh and yay for Audrey Niffenegger's new book "Her Fearful Symmetry".

ah so now i am broke. Bought 2 new books from NBS, bought a sweater and a pair of earrings from Artwork and i am still weighed down by my expenses from Korea.

But then scrap that.

I just hope that things are now better for the flood victims of Ondoy and Pepeng. Each day that passes makes me realize how important it is to live your life...to the fullest. Sounds cliche, but then that's the truth.

Is there any other way that we can help aside from donating? i couldn't volunteer due to corporate slavery. I just hope that those who perished are in a better place.

and yes i did!

i thought that i wouldn't be able to catch a single championship game since our korea trip was scheduled on the same week as the finals week (entries on korea later on :)). So despite us losing game 2 - BIG TIME - on my friggin birthday, i was otherwise happy since i would still be able to at least watch one more game. But lo and behold it was on a thursday - the day i get back from a week long vacay.

My mantra - by hook or by crook, i will get to araneta. thanks to ann's kind soul (naks!), i was able to score a ticket. next problem was how will i get to araneta without even letting "the lords" know. so i played hooky. left at 3pm with my table all in dis array with my outlook calendar set to alarm at 330pm for a series of "meetings". yay! so i was off to cheering on the blue eagles.

The things i do for Ateneo! )

This is actually an acquired skill by almost, if not all of the lords in Ayala Land. In Filipino, it is best called or known as naninisi or can even be crudely called as nanglalaglag.

Maybe being a corporate slave really meant being a slave forever...and being one actually entails being thick skinned, being a big fat liar and possessing the worst work ethic ever. Ongoing mantra of a slave is "Take the fall". Perennial battlecry of a lord is "YOU take the fall".

What I felt last night was beyond anger and madness that i didn't even have second thoughts of calling up my counterpart from operations - who is by some miracle an operations manager. Sure my emotions got the best of me, but the f**ck...I am not working just so people can use me as a scapegoat. People who resort to such means are cowards - individuals without backbones and can NEVER EVER and SHOULD NEVER EVER receive the respect that people place on them.

I would have gladly written their names here, in ALL CAPS, in bold letters. But then this scapegoat still has a sense of respect for others, especially for the elders.

i cannot get over the jabba hangover. personally, i believe this is the best show that we've brought to Ayala Malls. To think that this was shut down a couple of times, boo.

it was the most stressful, but the most fulfilling show. they were the most genuine people i've met..at least after my friends haha :) i loved the Fab 5 and EY, but more of a star stuck kind. I am gushing, but they are the best. I love street dancing and to see Filipinos making it this big and to see such great talents - makes me want to pack my gym bag and get back to dancing. rawr. :)

i followed them since America's Got Talent - which to one of the wockeez admitted as to not liking the show, haha - and i was just beyond disbelief and excitement when the lords announced that they are finally coming over.

The show was totally packed to the brim. The drive fronting Glorietta 4 was overflowing with a sea of people. The most amazing part was the horrid rain just stopped. Once the event started, there was no evidence of rain at all - at least except for the mudpack on our shoes. haha! thank you sta clara!!! :)

i just wished they performed icebox, but what the hell, it was 30 minutes of awesome dancing! and they did their apologize sequence! whut!! and seeing their single ladies sequence was a riot!

jabba 2.1

we had some downtime with them when they went shopping earlier today around Glorietta and Greenbelt. They shopped like girls - very indecisive, haha! Not a trace of celebrity feel as they went about with their shopping. Really, fame hasn't gone to their heads..very down to earth. or at least i think they are.

and because i'm a fan, i have to indulge myself right?

PS: the biggest of all sacrifices was done today. i woke up at 1030am to accompany the boys with their shopping. sacrifice kung sacrifice. haha! :)

Where did the long weekend go? Part 2

Learned this shocking news from a friend's FB status. Aaaggghh. this cannot be. I've been on a long-time hunt for them ever since they came out with the Definitely Maybe album. I am more of a Liam fan, but what is Oasis without Noel?!

Quoting: He concluded by telling fans: "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a family and a football team to indulge. I'll see you somewhere down the road. It's been a fuckin' pleasure." Said like a true Gallagher gentleman, haha! :)

I would love to get this. Any kind souls out there? :)

or maybe i should go with a G9? hmmm. or maybe i should go first and check if i have money. haha!

Where did the long weekend go?

Time really flies by fast. Next week is the start of the -BER month and before we know it, it's Christmas already! But i think i have to go through hell before i can even count the days to Christmas.

The 3-day long weekend was much needed, but too short. i CANNOT wait for the upcoming long weekend next week. i can't wait for September 13 to come by so i can be back to my "stresstab free" days. brrr.

and everything else that i did in between )

Ah, tomorrow the wheel of corporate slavery rolls again. what a doobie.

PS: can someone explain to me what "the Happening" is all about? i;ve watched this for 3 times (tonight's the fourth time) and I still don't get it.

The best thing to come to our shores!

you share a bit of somewhat good news to your friend and your rewarded with rudeness. there really are times when my patience get the best of me. this time though it didn't. Because i have respect for you, my friend. if i were you, keep your grudges to yourself. i would have gladly listened to all your sob stories, but i guess you were just a tad bit miserable that you decided to be insensitive and ruin someone else's day.

i hope this will not be the pattern for the rest of the week.

don't you just hate mondays?
childhood
I didn't want to gush about Harry Potter, but this is definitely one in my top 3 HP movies! I had to twist my friend's arm and leg to give me premiere tickets and I was just more than happy to score a couple, whee! I'm planning to watching it for the second and the third time before i post my thoughts about it.

Offhand, the special effects are really something to look forward to :) i think I might be among the few who actually crush Radcliffe's Harry Potter and i love him to bits in this movie!

And it was just timely to watch Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince! Just as much as i would like to be able to just brandish a wand like Harry and make all annoying things disappear, I couldn't! Working nowadays in the office is like working with a thousand half blood princes. having one indecisive boss is enough, but having 2?!

We are coming up with a big campaign for the mall, which is like a combination of a one half boiled egg plus a full bowl of quaker oats, sans the milk and sugar, to me. We are forcing a campaign to be launched by the end of July, when we could very well prepare for it and come out with a much bigger bang later this year. Yes pioneer kasi kami. rawr.

My friend might just back out from our Austalia plans next year! aghh, panic mode because i was already deadset on watching the Australian Open. Anyone there who wants to join me in the Land Down Under? time to scrounge up some real good moolah.

Wut?!

Alert to Gossip Girl fans!

I don't like it at all. okay so i used to watch her on lizzie maguire before, but not GG please!

I have been on Michael Jackson mode for the past week )

Michael Jackson gone too soon

  • Jun. 26th, 2009 at 9:16 AM
look up
I may not be the biggest fan of his, but i was a fan.

Upon hearing the news from my friends, i tuned in to CNN..and i just cried. non-stop. I grew up with his music..i danced and sang to it. Being a music fan, this is definitely a tragic loss to the industry. He was supposed to go on tour and actually have 50 sold out concerts in the bag.

I feel sad for the kids who've only seen and known him from his scandals and controversies. Not realizing what a great talent and passion he has, both as a musician and a family man (at least sans his lawsuits).

After almost 3 decades of musical genius (back during his Jackson 5 days), I am sure that there is not one band, singer, dancer or even a piano player who will not cite MJ as his musical influence.

How his life ended doesn't even give justice to what he has left all of us with - 3 decades of music and lyrics that just resonate in meaning, no matter how many times it has been re-engineered, re-written, re-arranged or revived.

they did say that death comes in threes and he was the last among the 3 icons who left this world - Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson. I just hope that the media will not milk this dry for any self serving or money making purposes.

I'm Gonna Make A Change,
For Once In My Life
It's Gonna Feel Real Good,
Gonna Make A Difference
Gonna Make It Right . . .

I did all three...at least for as long as i can remember. yes even stealing. well at least once during my grade school and HS days. *points fingers to peer pressure and Beverly Hills 90210*

So after a rush of endorphins from an hour gym workout (yes trying to be healthy) and while chomping away on my White Hat fro-yo, I had a sudden flash of inspiration to do another playlist: songs that reminded me of some funny and weird episodes in the past. naks. )

A Weekend Trip

photog in caramoan

So one again for the road.

We took advantage of the long weekend during the Independence Day holiday and hopped on a bus to Naga, Bicol last Thursday night. After a long and torturous land and sea travel: 8hr bus ride + 1.5hr van ride + 2hr - that earned all of us a strained neck and an aching back, we arrived at the pretty peninsula of Caramoan.

we had to stay in for the first day since it started raining in the afternoon. it did say in the pag-asa website plus weatherbug that there is a 30% chance of rain, so pag-asa did get right that time haha!

We prepped oursleves for a full day of island hopping the next day so as unusal as it may seem i was asleep by 11.30pm..that's early for me..though late by provincial standards haha!

I'd let the photos speak for themselves. Words might not do them justice. Keywords are: white, powdery sand (can definitely rival Bora!), turquoise water, dark green trees and super clear skies. Definitely unspoiled )

*****************************************************************************
Off topic: Yam and i joined a contest, wherein we can win a trip to Taiwan!! i could go on explaining why we would want to go Taiwan, blame it on Janet Hsien's show in Travel and Living haha! but Taiwan seems to be such a gorgeous island..and okay we love asian dramas haha :)

First part of the contest is for us to be part of the Top 50 teams. For us to get in as part of the top 50, we need online votes (yes like American Island). so please, please vote for us.

Distractions like these should not be allowed.

This is my next destination: Korea. This was supposed to happen before Japan, but i got sidetracked. This cannot get in the way of my european backpacking fantasy.

To the person who owns this flicker, apologies for posting your site's link, but these are just amazing photos! Thanks to [info]outof_focus. How i wish i can take photos that are as awe-inspiring as these. *rummages through drawer for savings* i want an slr!!

Brillante Mendoza as best director in Cannes - another milestone in the Philippine film industry! Realizing a dream doesn't seem to be that elusive anymore. Definitely gives me more hope for a lot of things. :)
